The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as pardoning holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Annually, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and cafecito as they marked the pig's pardon.
