Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
