Democrats Denounce Trump After He States They Should Face Execution

Lawmakers from the Democratic party voiced fury after the ex-president accused a contingent of Democratic representatives of being "turncoats" and asserted they should be detained and penalized "with execution" following their posting of a disputed video.

The Message That Sparked the Dispute

The recorded message, released on Tuesday, includes six Democratic congress members who in the past served in military or intelligence capacities.

"Similar to us, you all took an oath to protect and uphold this national charter," the officials stated in the 90-second video. "At present, the dangers to our constitution don't only come from overseas, but from within our own country. Our regulations are unambiguous, you can decline unlawful commands, you can reject improper directives, you should refuse illegal orders. No one has to follow directives that contravene the statutes or our founding principles."

Donald Trump's Angry Response

The recorded statement appeared to trigger a heated reaction from the former president.

On later in the week, Trump wrote on Truth Social: "It's called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these turncoats to our Nation should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In another post, he declared: "This constitutes really serious, and Risky to our Nation. Their words cannot be enabled to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a additional publication, he stated: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" He also redistributed a declaration that read: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Party Officials React

Following Trump's comments on Thursday, House Democratic leader released a combined statement denouncing the comments.

"Violent politics has no position in America," they stated. "Elected officials who were featured in the video all worked our United States with exceptional patriotism and excellence. We unequivocally censure Donald Trump's appalling and risky threats of violence against members of Congress, and call on Republican lawmakers to vigorously do the same."

The opposition officials also mentioned that they had been in communication with law enforcement "to make certain the protection of these representatives and their families."

"Donald Trump must right away remove these radical online messages and withdraw his aggressive discourse before he causes harm," the announcement continued.

Lawmakers' Firm Response

The lawmakers who participated in the video also published a response.

"We identify as former service members and security experts who value this country and made an vow to protect and support the national charter of the United States," they said. "That oath continues forever, and we plan to keep it. No warning, coercion, or call for violence will prevent us from that sacred duty."

"The most revealing aspect is that the ex-president deems it subject to penalty by death for us to restate the statutes," they added. "Armed forces members should understand that we have their backs as they fulfill their oath to the constitution and duty to obey only proper directives. It is not only the right thing to do, but also our duty."

They stated: "All citizens must unite and condemn the president's demands for our execution and political violence. This is a moment for ethical certainty."

Further Political Responses

The Democratic Senate minority leader also condemned Trump's remarks and shared on social media: "It's important to understand: the President of the United States is calling for the capital punishment of public representatives."

He added: "This is an outright THREAT. Every Senator, each house member, every American – without partisan consideration – should censure this immediately and absolutely."

The Conservative official supported Trump's allegation that the Democrats had participated in "rebellion", describing the video as "extremely improper", commenting: "This constitutes very risky, you have important representatives of the government telling troops to defy commands, I think that is historic in American history."

The Republican leader also according to sources informed the press that in what he examined of Trump's publications, Trump was "defining the violation of rebellion" but that "legal experts have to examine the language and determine all that."

Executive Branch Statement

During a administration briefing on that day, when questioned by a media member, "Would the president want to kill members of Congress?", the White House press secretary responded: "Certainly not."

"Let's be clear about what the ex-commander in chief is reacting to," the official said. "You have sitting members of the American legislature who conspired to orchestrate a video message to individuals of the US military, to current military personnel encouraging them to defy the president's lawful orders."

She said: "The purity of our defense system relies on the hierarchy, and if that structure is violated, it can result in casualties, it can lead to disorder, and precisely what these congressional representatives ... are essentially supporting."
